Overview: Up for sale is this stunning woodblock print, “Red Kimono” by modernist Japanese printer, Kaoru Kawano. Kawano is well-known as one of the earliest Japanese print artists to move from traditionalist styles and themes to more modern art-style subjects. This print dates from the 1950s and is a fantastic example of his work. It depicts a woman in a red kimono and evokes the simplicity of traditional Japan and a new modern style. Print is in very good condition. Minor scuffing on the leg area of the woman. Paper is slightly bowed (likely from rolling), but should flatten out nicely. Measurements: Print measures approximately 16.75 inches high x 11.25 inches wide. If the item is not paid for within this time frame, an unpaid item case will be opened.
