Original Toshikata (1866 – 1908) Japanese Woodblock Print Gathering Mushrooms: Women of the Shotoku Era (1711 – 16) Series; Thirty-six Selected Beauties, 1891 – 1894 (Sanjuroku Kasen) Gathering Mushrooms: Women of the Shotoku Era (1711 – 16) – Toshikata’s lovely series “Thirty-six Selected Beauties” was one of the great masterwork series of the late 19th century. Reflecting back on the classic beauty prints of the previous era, Toshikata created a series of 36 prints illustrating the daily activities of women from various time periods and walks of life. Condition is commensurate with age and wear. Minor losses and discoloration throughout. 15 x 10 1/4 inches.
