LARGE SUPERB LIMITED EDITION SIGNED JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT BY Masao Ido. ENTRANCE TO MURO-JI TEMPLE IN AUTUMN. Shows a Beautiful Autumn Scene of the Entrance to Muro-Ji Temple in Nara Dated 1997, Number 84/200 SIZE: 44.2cm x 33cm (17.4 inches x 13 inches). In Very Good Condition. MASAO IDO was born in North-East China in 1945 then moved to Japan in 1946 where he has lived ever since. He studied in Kyoto with Yoshida Koho and Otsubo Shigechika and by 1984 was a Teacher of Seiji Sano. Masao Ido is One of the Most Highly regarded of Contemporary Woodblock Artists and has Work in Many Museums including the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Boston Art Museum, the Kyoto and Tokyo National Museum and the Florence Municipal Museum. He has an extremely individual form of expression and an amazing skill with perspective and form. Genuine antique woodblock print -Kabuki-e theatre print of Nakamura Shikan II as Otokodate–no Schichibei(Yamada Saburo)in the play called’Kacho Sakigaka Soga’ performed at Nakamura-za in 1832. Impression, colors are excellent, condition very good with binding holes.
