Up for your consideration is a small collection of 3 antique Japanese woodblock prints, c. These pieces are very early impressions, and each color of the plate is vivid, and has the appearance of a fine watercolor. The artist appears to have further enhanced the woodblocks with the addition of watercolors (mostly the reds). These are as fine Meiji-era examples as you are likely to find. Each piece bears the artist’s chop mark (stamp) in red and black. “Antique Woodblock Print – Unique – Zeigetsu” and “#37″ are written in graphite at the bottom of the print. “Made in Japan” is stamped on the back. The paper measures 18.6″ high and 13.5″ wide. The printed area measures 14″ high and 10.5″ wide. Overall, the piece is in excellent condition. There are a few small bends in the bottom of the paper, see last photo. There is also some discoloration to the print as a whole, see photograph of the back of the print. The piece is without water damage, tears, or other flaws. “Antique Woodblock Print – Unique – Zeigetsu” and “#21″ are written in graphite at the bottom of the print. The paper measures 18.5″ tall and 13.5″ wide. The printed area measures 14″ tall and 10.5″ wide. There is one large fold to the top right side of the print, see last photo. There are also two spots where there are remnants of glue from matting – some of the first layer of the paper has been removed with the glue. There are also a few very mild bends and a small amount of discoloration in the paper but it is otherwise without tears, folds, and other flaws. “Antique Woodblock Print – Unique – Zeigetsu” and “#28″ are written in graphite at the bottom of the print. “Made in Japan” is stamped on the back, and “Poppies, Red, 732, and 739″ written in cursive in graphite. The print measures 14.2″ tall and 10.6″ wide. There is some discoloration to the paper, see last photo and photo of the back of the print. There are also two marks to the back of the paper, neither visible from the front, one red and one blue, both measuring about. See second and third to last photos. There is some dog-earing to the corners of the print, see fourth from last photo. Additionally, there are two areas, on each side, where the first layer of paper has been removed from the back of the print, presumably from matting see fifth and sixth from last photos.
