Haku Maki Rare Pair Large Abstract Woodblock Prints Remain Series
Author: adminJul 5
These are remarkable pieces of woodblock art, likely from the 1960s. They are hand signed and numbered by the artist. These are 2 very rare of his early woodblock prints from a limited series entitled “Remain”. Remain D is 2/20 and Remain B is 4/20. From what I can tell, they were in the original frame, glass. And matting, but I temporarily removed from the frame and glass for photos. Please contact me ahead of purchasing if you want to have the frames/glass included. What appears to be the original tape is still in place, at the top of each print only, connecting them to the matting. I took quite a few pictures to indicate the condition of the pieces. I don’t know enough about woodblock prints to know what type of restoration may be desired by a serious collector. I did my best to take helpful photos. Please send me a message and I will be more than happy to send you additional images. There are no tears but there is some discoloration of the paper that doesn’t distract from the beauty of the images to my untrained eye, but a serious collector may want to have restoration done. They are impressive examples measuring approximately 15″ x 24″ (image size), 21″ x 30″ (including matting) and 24″ x 33″ (with optional frames). Please feel free to ask my any questions, or ask for more pictures. I will be glad to give any information about them I can.
