An Exquisite Edo Period Portrait of a Courtesan! This magnificent original print is from our rare print collection. We are very fortunate to be able to offer it. Kunisada was also known at times as Toyokuni III. During his lifetime he was the most popular, prolific and financially successful designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints. The title is The Courtesan Koine of Inamotoro. It was printed in 1864 during the Edo period. This stunning image is the flamboyant courtesan Koine from the house of Inamotoro strolling through the Yoshiwara pleasure quarter accompanied by her two young kamuro or child attendants, Tsuruji and Kameji. It was printed in 1864. Koine is clad in an exquisite flower patterned kimono tied with a huge red, green and gold obi or sash. Her two little kamuro are dressed, as was the custom, in similarly patterned kimonos. Her hair is adorned with hairpins and combs while her attendants wear feathered headdresses. This lovely original print is one any discerning collector would desire. Matted and framed, it would make a stunning presentation by itself or as an impressive addition to an arrangement with other prints. It is one you will be proud to display in your home or office and is bound to become a cherished family heirloom.
