Original Old Yoshitoshi Mori Japanese Woodblock Print Samurai w/ Sword. After many years of producing stencil-dyed textiles, later in his life he turned to making prints on paper. Yoshitoshi Mori was known for his colorful works which generally depicted scenes from the Kabuki Theater, Samurai’s or subjects related to folk traditions and festivals. His figures are often depicted with simple, bold lines and are often positioned in somewhat contorted poses. Including the full un-trimmed borders, this Print measures 17 ¾” by 13″ and is signed in pencil Yoshitoshi Mori. Above this signature is a red chop stamp, and based on other Mori Prints I have found I believe this Original Woodblock dates from the late 20. Depicting a Samurai holding his Sword above his head, this original Yoshitoshi Mori Woodblock Print is in perfect, clean condition with bright colors. It comes framed, under glass and has a nice recessed gold and black double matt. The silver foil frame measures 17 ¼” by 23 ½” and is also in very good original condition with only a small chip to the bottom left edfe.
