Title: Moscow Early spring. Medium: 1964 Woodblock Print. Signature or Seal: Signed T. Edition: Limited Edition #2/20. Print Size: 9 3/4 X 17 3/4 inches with no margin (tan margin is actually the backing paper). Condition: Excellent condition, Tipped by verso top margin to backing paper as all Ono prints. Comment: Tadashige Ono had studied art at the Hongo Painting Institute. He was an active member in the proleterian art movement in 1929. He soon became an active member of the hanga movement and joined several associations. He withdrew when the associations would not accept other members of the proletarian movement. After world war II, he contributed to the Tokyo Print Biennale of 1957 and in a Japanese print exhibition in the USSR in 1961. He became professor at Tokyo University of Fina Arts and several other Japanese art universities in Japan. The style of Tadashige Ono was strongly influenced by German expressionism.
