Condition : Excellent- Please check the state through the image. ·This is a genuine print by Matsutei, which is rare and not included in the catalog of a certain museum in Ota Ward. This print uses another name, Rakutei. Perhaps this feeling was popular with foreigners at the time, and it reminds me of the prints of the night view of the sea by Yoshimune Utagawa II and Koho Shoda. ·I have attached a photo of a print whose composition is very similar to that of the illustrated book. This is a print work called “Hashishita no Tsuki” in the name of Hiroaki Tanaka Shobido. ·Matsutei Takahashi (also known as Rakutei and Kae, changed his name to Hiroaki Takahashi in 1925) was born in Asakusabashi, Tokyo. He became an apprentice to his relative Fuko Matsumoto, and later left behind many excellent new prints as the first printmaker of the publisher, Watanabe Mokuhangaten. At that time, he is said to have lived in Ota Ward, Tokyo, and together with Hasui Kawase and Shinsui Ito, who also lived in the ward, he was creating woodblock prints for Watanabe Woodblock Print Shop in Shimbashi. Matsutei is not yet well-known in Japan, but it is popular among enthusiasts, especially among foreign collectors of new prints. There are also various private feature sites both in Japan and abroad. It can be said that he is truly a hidden master of Shin-hanga. In addition, Fuko Matsumoto, the master, is a brother disciple of Seitei Watanabe, who has become popular in recent years, and both of them are great masters who studied under Yosai Kikuchi. It seems that Matsutei’s paintings have inherited the indigenous atmosphere of Asakusa, Ueno and Ginza in the Joto district of Tokyo. ·It seems to be a work around the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras. This is a true print from Watanabe Woodblock Print Shop. The location is unknown, but is it Nihonbashi? Around the Sumida River? It’s a wonderful painting full of taste. ·Print size = 12 cm long x 18 cm wide. ·The state of the print: Although there are some stains, it is generally good for this age. If you look closely, there may be stains, wrinkles, or changes over time as this is an antique product, but please be aware of the nature of the product. The description in the product condition column is for reference only, so please check the photos.
