Title Horse race at Shinobazunoike Pond in Ueno Park, Tokyo. Condition: holes, tears, backing. Size: 70 x 35 cm. Also known as Yangsai. His subjects ranged from beauties and genre paintings to expositions, the Constitution, and the Diet, as well as Tokyo landmarks and the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese wars, and he was active until near the end of the Meiji period. In his later years, he also created paintings.

Lovely Moonlight on the Water Scene! The marvelous work is by Watanabe Nobukazu Japanese, c. He is best known for his charming triptychs, such as this one, of lovely women and children going about their daily lives. Beautiful Nobukazu triptych of young women enjoying an evening of moon viewing at a beautiful garden pond. A wonderful selection for display. Watanabe Nobukazu’s masterworks are in the collections of many of the world’s great museums. Among them are the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Watanabe Nobukazu, Japanese, c. TITLE: Moonlight on a Garden Pond. MEDIUM: Authentic polychrome woodblock print. Ink and color on handmade paper. IMAGE SIZE: Three separate panels, not attached. 14 3/8″ x 9 1/2″; (36,5 cm x 24,1 cm). SHEET SIZE: Overall approx. 14 5/8″ x 29 1/4″; (37,1 cm x 74,3 cm). CONDITION: Antique original triptych.
