Hasui Kawase, a student of Kiyokata, was influenced by Shinsui’s “Eight Views of Omi” and turned to printmaking. Hasui was active as a leading artist of new prints and produced more than 600 works in his 40 years of painting. The blue color called “Hasui Blue” is Hasui’s characteristic color, and the various blues expressing water and air have attracted not only Japanese but also many foreigners, including Steve Jobs. The Shinbashi Bridge is located in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, and is a beautiful bridge with vermilion paint that is suitable for decorating the front entrance of Nikko. Edo Era Japanese Woodblock Triptych Print, Oguri and Terute. From 1394 to 1411, in the country of Hitachi, Oguri, the lord of a castle, along with ten retainers, disguised themselves as merchants and stayed at an inn. There were many women in the inn, and among them was an exquisite prostitute named Terutehime. Oguri and Terute later became man and wife, and this print depicts the scene of their encounter.
