Up for sale is a pristine Japanese Woodblock Print by Kawase Hasui called Clearing after a Snowfall on Mt. Signed – Hasui, with red artist’s seal “Kawase”. Publisher – Doi, later edition from original blocks. Artist – Hasui (1883 – 1957). Image Size – 14 1/4″ x 9 3/8″ + margins as shown. Condition – Excellent overall with no issues to report. A lovely Rare Original Japanese Tsukioka Kogyo Woodblock Print Plum Blossom & Moon. Published by Matsuki Heikichi (Daikokuya) this Woodblock is beautifully delicate and a very rare piece. Many of these squarish shikishiban prints are thought to have been issued by the Daikokiya, who continually explored new avenues for print subjects and types primarily destined for the export market in the late 19th and early 20th century. The Woodblock is in excellent condition. The colours as they should be. It is in its original frame and mount. The mount is discoloured with age and the frame a little battered. It measures approximately 37cm x 37cm inclusive of the frame. Image size measures approximately 23cm x 23cm. Please view the photos carefully as they are a vital part of the description.
