His art-name, Shiro is a Pun upon his real name, Shiro. He became a pupil of Kaburagi Kiyokata, and exhibited his picture of figures and scenic subsequently at the Imperial Academy Exhibition. His first woodblock prints appeared in the year of 1919 and 1920, a considerable number having been produced before the earthquake of 1923. In the years following he has produced many fine prints.
