All of our pictures were taken by scanner from our woodblock prints. Sometime during scanning process, the image get diffuse reflection from scanner. That makes yellow shadow on our picture. However all of our prints are perfect condition and not such yellow part on our print. Approx Washi paper Size Height 37.00 cm x Width 24.50 cm (H 14.566 ” x W 9.645 “). Originally published in 1951 by Yoshida studio. This is the later edition from original woodblocks. But very old print in New condition. Printed in Tokyo Japan. Only perfect condition sheet. Kept in very professional codition. The color of the actual woodblock print may be slightly differebt from the image on our pictures. The actual sheet is much better than our picture at all. Lovely frame on this perfect condition print by TOSHI YOSHIDA Titled- WATERFRONT AT URAYASU made in 1951 frame measures 17″x 23″ print measures 9.5″ x 16″ with signature outside of that tight registration, lighter black ink in upper right hand corner, otherwise perfect condition About artist: Born in Tokyo, Toshi Yoshida was the eldest son of Hiroshi Yoshida the renowned shin hanga master. Under his father’s influence, Toshi began to learn painting at age 3 and woodblock printing at age 13. In 1925-29 he studied oil painting at Taiheiyo Art School and in 1929 traveled with his father to India and Southeast Asia making sketches for future prints. In 1936 Toshi journeyed to China and Korea, and in 1952-53 he visited the US and Europe where he exhibited works and lectured about woodblock prints. From the early fifties forward Toshi often traveled to the US, Canada, Mexico, Africa, Australia and Antarctica for sketching, exhibitions and lectures. For a few years after the war, he made prints of abstract subjects, but then reverted to prints of scenery and animals. In 1980, Toshi opened the Miasa Cultural Center in Nagano Prefecture where he taught students from many countries, including Carol Jessen, Karyn Young and Ryusei Okamoto.
