Japanese woodblock triptych print-Samurai & Falcon Catch Crane Bird, Chikanobu

Genuine japanese woodblock print by Chikanobu Toyohara, signed Yoshu Chikanobu, published by Fukuda Hatsujiro in 1898. 3 oban triptych (70.9x 35.5cm), impression and colors and condition are all very good, slightly soiled with Meiji album backing. Titled’Chiypda no-no omote mokuroku-Tsuru onari, which translates to events of Prince Tokugawa outside the Chiyoda castle, scene of crane hunt. Now we all know how powerful the Tokugawa clan is and look what they are doing, one man wrestling down a huge crane bird while 2 flew away;look at the vicious expression on his face as he struggles to control the bird, while his fellow hunters rush to his assistance. See the falcon bird perched on the belly of the poor crane, no doubt it wants credit where credit is due, it has something to do with bearing down this huge bird, you know how clever those falcons are!! In the distance, a party of fellow hunters watched.
