Utagawa Kuniyoshi Triptych Woodblock Yoshitsune’s Troop Attacking the Heike 1839. Utagawa Kuniyoshi triptych Yoshitsune’s Troop Attacking a Group of the Heike from the Top of Ichibotani Hill. Description: Yoshitsune leading his men in the descent of the Hiyodori-goe Gorge at the Battle of Ichi-no-tani on March 21, 1184. It is multi-colored triptych woodblock where you see, the hill, horses, men in battle, warriors and cavalry in variations of blues, pink, peach grey and brown. Please note that the signature cartouches are each a different color, and this is typical for this tryptich, as mentioned in the Kuniyoshi Project site. 14 1/4 x 29 1/4 inches without matting, with matting: 16 x 30 inches. Minor losses, wrinkles, generally in good condition. The print has been pasted to a support paper (very thin, and translucent-with some Japanese writing). The top corners are pasted to the matting in three small spots, but they could be removed easily with some heat. Unless described as being new, the items for sale are vintage or used and it may show evidence of wear. The description refers to the overall condition and details.
