Fumio Fujita Signed Limited 23/200 Banks Of Birch Forest Woodblock Print (1978)

Fumio Fujita Signed Limited Edition (23/200) Banks Of Birch Forest Woodblock Print (1978). I have loved this print since I bought it. Fumio Fujita has been captivated by the birch forests of Japan, and this woodblock print is a strong example of his passion. This print is also beautifully framed in a custom gilded frame with custom matting and plexiglass. An introduction to the artist, and the art movement that he is most related to, for those who are unfamiliar with him. Sosaku Hanga – The sosaku hanga or creative print movement in Japan began in the early part of the twentieth century. Unlike the traditional collaborative woodblock printing process utilizing a separate artist, carver, and printer along with a publisher, the sosaku hanga movement emphasized artist involvement in designing, carving, and printing the blocks himself, as the sole creator of his work. The movement gained popularity following World War II, earning international acclaim and expanding subject matter to include abstraction. Today most contemporary Japanese print artists design, carve, and print their woodblocks themselves, continuing the vibrant creative tradition established with ukiyo-e. Sosaku hanga prints encompass a wide range of subjects and expressive artistic styles, and are a great choice for a collector interested in modern and contemporary prints. Fumio Fujita – One of Japan’s most well-known contemporary sosaku hanga artists, Fumio Fujita studied at the Musashino College of Fine Arts and began creating woodblock prints in 1963. His subjects are nature based, and he is best known for his many images of trees, especially birch trees – a signature Fujita image. He simplifies and reduces forms to their elements, bordering on abstract, with an emphasis on pattern and texture. Fujita’s prints are all pencil signed and numbered, limited editions. His works have been included in the prestigious Collage Women’s Association of Japan (CWAJ) exhibitions several times. Fujita’s works are becoming increasing collectable, especially some of his earlier designs. His lovely prints would make a wonderful addition to any modern woodblock collection. ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR PRINT. It is in its original frame from when I bought it. I have not examined it out of frame. Please see the photos as they are the best testament as to condition. Toshi Yoshida Woodblock Chimney Forest

Toshi Yoshida Woodblock Chimney Forest

This design was originally published in 1951 by the Yoshida Hanga Studio. We are offering a posthumously printed image, made from the original blocks, and acquired directly from the Yoshida family. While it is signed in the block, it still looks like it is pencil signed to an untrained eye. To avoid any misunderstanding, the Yoshida Hanga Studio also included the seal of the printer on the reverse. The image measures 9 7/8 x 14 5/8 inches, plus full margins. The condition is excellent. Up until his father passed away in 1950, Toshi Yoshida primarily produced works that were reminiscent of his father’s landscape prints. His later works include a wide assortment of subjects, styles and techniques. Don’t settle for a giclee or other mechanical reproduction. These woodblock prints are made using the same printing process as the original pencil signed run, under the supervision of the artist’s family and meeting their exacting standards. This item is in the category “Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Prints”. The seller is “floatingworldgallery” and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
