Japanese Woodblock Print – Katsuyuki Nishijima – Remaining Light – 55/500 Signed Katsuyuki Nishijima was born in 1945 in Japan. In the mid 1960 s he studied the making o f w oodblock prints at the Mikumo Publishing House in Kyoto. By 1972 he focused on limited edition woodblocks using traditional old buildings as his subjects. His woodblocks were made in a number of formats but only the largest size are limited editions of usually 500, which were hand signed, titled and numbered. This is a large size, hand numbered, titled and signed print with red shima seal, titled Remaining Light. VERY low number, 55 of 500. It comes sandwiched in a light blue mat with Foam-core back. Image measures 12-1/4″ by 16-1/2″. Mat is 16-1/2″ by 20-1/2″. Condition: beautiful colors, no damage. Please do not ask. Items are accurately described and carefully packaged. Asano Takeji was born in 1900 in Kyoto where he studied arts and crafts at the Kyoto School of painting with Tomikichiro Tokuriki. He became an active member of the sosaku hanga group in Kyoto.
