Signed in Japanese and stamped along right edges–see photos. Sites measure: 11.25″x 15″ and 11 3/8″x 15.25″. Looks excellent, in original “as found” untouched condition-rich impression and colors, no visible fading, damage or wear, unmatted–please look at photos carefully. Superb color woodblocks by Sanzo Wada. The first image depicts a scene of traditional Japanese craftsmen sharpening swords, the second shows three women carrying flower baskets to sell them on the village streets. Wada was known for his color woodblocks and Japanese subjects; These are fine examples of his work in beautiful condition. Sanzo Wada studied Western style painting at Tokyo School of Fine Arts from which he graduated in 1904. From 1907 to 1914 he studied Western art in Europe. From 1932 on Wada taught at Tokyo School of Fine Arts. His prints are either self-published or by Kyoto Hanga-in. 100% Guaranteed to be as described. Ask all questions beforehand. “Genji Cloud Family Society” “Kashiwagi” “Three” “Daughter Otsu”. Framed and matted in a cloth mat board and dark wooden frame. January 1, 1798[1] April 14, 1861 was one of the last great masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting. He was a member of the Utagawa school. The range of Kuniyoshi’s subjects included many genres: landscapes, beautiful women, Kabuki actors, cats, and mythical animals. He is known for depictions of the battles of legendary samurai heroes. His artwork incorporated aspects of Western representation in landscape painting and caricature. Visible Print: 9.75″ x 15″ / Framed: 15.6″ x 21.25″ Condition: Minute chips to the edges of the print.
