Here we have an antique woodblock print by renowned Japanese artist Utagawa Toyokuni. This could be described as a Bijin-ga print, which is a general Japense term for art depicting beautiful women, landscapes, flowers, animals or erotica. This picture shows four Japanese women in beautifully decorated kimonos. Each woman appears to be intersted in the woman dressed in blue, who seems to be reading a scroll.
