A Japanese Woodblock Triptych Print by Kuniyoshi. Assembled size 29 1/2 x 14 1/2 ins. (75 x 36.7 cms) The scene shows the occasion of 1000 Cranes (symbols of longevity and good luck) being released on the shore at Yuigahama by the Shogun, Minamoto no Yoritomo as an offering to the Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine The baskets which contained the cranes together with their attendants, are lined up on the shore. The unusual and attractive print is one of the less known of Kuniyoshi’s many triptychs. Although the colours are original the three sheets have some condition problems. There are various fold lines which can be seen on the photos, the vertical line on the centre sheet has been reinforced on the reverse, the bottom edges which were somewhat ragged from wear have been reinforced on the reverse. There are several minor repairs here and there (see photos) and some minor touching-in on some repaired fold lines. Please note that the three sheets are not joined. PLEASE INSPECT PHOTOGRAPHS CAREFULLY. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN ORIGINAL PRINTING NOT A FACSIMILE OR REPRINT. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE ALL PHOTOGRAPHS. Packing Materials: although we re-use as much packing material as possible, we may make a charge for any new materials used. Any such charge will not be greater than our cost price. Personal cheque (known UK customers). Bank / wire transfer (international customers). If choosing to pay by this method. We guarantee each item to be from the period as described. Our guarantee has no time limit. We do not sell for other dealers, we sell only our own stock. Nowadays many sellers, especially internet sellers, show items for sale not belonging to them, either because they have no actual stock of their own or they are advertising items, often of unknown origin, for clients on a commission basis. Such sellers often have very limited, highly conditional, or non-existent guarantees. With 45 years experience of Asian Art & Antiques with retail premises here in Brighton and a worldwide reputation second to none, we are pleased to offer our customers our guarantee without time limit. A genuine antique is, of course, genuine for all time and not just for seven, fourteen or thirty days and so sellers not offering such a guarantee as ours should possibly be avoided.
